Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Assessment

Our child and adolescent psychiatric assessment service is currently undergoing a short scheduled review period. During this time we are pausing new referrals for psychiatric assessment and treatment while we ensure all governance and clinical arrangements are fully in place. We anticipate being in a position to accept new referrals very shortly.

Who this is for

This service is appropriate for children and adolescents experiencing:

•       Anxiety — including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, and panic

•       Depression and low mood

•       Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

•       Emotional dysregulation and behavioural difficulties

•       School refusal and avoidance

•       Eating and sleep difficulties

•       Any other mental health concern where a specialist opinion is needed

Initial consultation

A one-hour consultation with Dr Athina Zakynthinaki. She will take a detailed history, explore your child's symptoms and circumstances, and provide an initial clinical opinion and recommendations. This may include a referral for therapy, medication, or further assessment — including a neurodevelopmental assessment if appropriate.

Complex psychiatric assessment

For more complex or long-standing presentations, this extended assessment includes comprehensive screening for neurodevelopmental conditions alongside the psychiatric evaluation. It is appropriate where there is a complex history, overlapping difficulties, or previous inconclusive assessments. A full written report with diagnosis and recommendations is provided.
