Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Assessment

Not every child who needs support has autism or ADHD. Children and young people experience a wide range of mental health difficulties — anxiety, low mood, OCD, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and more. Our psychiatric assessment service provides expert evaluation and a clear, personalised treatment plan.

Who this is for

This service is appropriate for children and adolescents experiencing:

•       Anxiety — including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, and panic

•       Depression and low mood

•       Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

•       Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma responses

•       Emotional dysregulation and behavioural difficulties

•       School refusal and avoidance

•       Eating and sleep difficulties

•       Any other mental health concern where a specialist opinion is needed

Initial consultation

A one-hour consultation with Dr Athina Zakynthinaki. She will take a detailed history, explore your child's symptoms and circumstances, and provide an initial clinical opinion and recommendations. This may include a referral for therapy, medication, or further assessment — including a neurodevelopmental assessment if appropriate.

Complex psychiatric assessment

For more complex or long-standing presentations, this extended assessment includes comprehensive screening for neurodevelopmental conditions alongside the psychiatric evaluation. It is appropriate where there is a complex history, overlapping difficulties, or previous inconclusive assessments. A full written report with diagnosis and recommendations is provided.
