We provide comprehensive assessments for neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism and ADHD, in children and adolescents. Our process involves a multi-faceted approach, utilising standardised tools, clinical interviews, and observational assessments to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

Our team of specialists is dedicated to understanding each child's unique characteristics and challenges. We collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals to gain a holistic view of the child's behaviour and development. After the assessment, we offer detailed feedback and diagnostic report with recommendations to support the child’s needs effectively, guiding families to appropriate interventions and resources.

You will be assessed by Dr. Athina Zakynthinaki, who is a Specialist Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, for the entire duration of your evaluation. This ensures that you are under the care of a qualified expert. Dr. Zakynthinaki will also oversee the development of a treatment plan tailored to your needs, which may involve medication prescription if deemed necessary.

Autism Spectrum Condition Assessment

An autism assessment typically includes a multifaceted approach to accurately diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This process often incorporates the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) with parents and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) with child, along with collateral information from education professionals.

ADHD Assessment

We operate an ADHD Diagnostic Clinic where assessments are completed within two hours, using Young DIVA ADHD diagnostic interview and clinical observation of the child. This includes immediate feedback on the diagnostic decision and a diagnostic report provided on the same day. An essential component of our ADHD assessment is the QB check, a highly sensitive and accurate screening tool. We will also screen for other psychiatric disorders that may resemble ADHD or commonly co-exist with ADHD. This ensures a thorough and accurate diagnosis.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Assessments

At Child Psychiatry Consultancy, we provide comprehensive assessment and treatment services for children and adolescents facing mental health challenges. We conduct thorough evaluations to accurately diagnose various conditions, including anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD. We offer tailored treatment plans that may include therapy, medication management, and family support.

    Please complete the new patient registration form. You will receive a response within the same or next day regarding the next steps based on the information you submitted. In our response, we will advise you whether an initial consultation is required. Alternatively, book an Initial Consultation with the psychiatrist.

  • Assessment Questionnaires

    You will be asked to complete assessment questionnaires based on your specific concerns. Additionally, your child’s teachers will be invited to participate by completing analogous questionnaires. The school’s input is essential for both ADHD and ASD assessments and is a necessary component of the evaluation process. For home educated children we accept information from out of school tutors or professionals who work with the child.

  • Assessment Appointments

    We will arrange the assessment appointments upon receipt of requested information. Autism assessment includes two appointments: the ADI (a parental interview lasting 2 hours) and the ADOS (a child observation). Both appointments can take place in the same day.

    The ADHD assessment involves one appointment, with a duration of 1.5 hours. Feedback regarding the diagnosis and treatment plan will be provided at the conclusion of the assessment.

  • Feedback Appointment

    A feedback session lasting 30 minutes will be conducted to discuss the results of our assessment and outline a plan of interventions aimed at supporting your child's development moving forward. During this meeting, we will explore the findings, address any questions, and collaborate on strategies that may be beneficial for your child's growth. Your input will be valuable as we develop a plan tailored to your child's unique needs.

  • ADHD Medication Titration

    Following an ADHD diagnosis, we operate a medication titration clinic to help manage and adjust treatment plans for children with ADHD. This clinic focuses on closely monitoring patients’ responses to medication, ensuring that dosages are tailored to their specific needs.

    During the titration process, initial doses of medication may be incrementally increased or decreased based on clinical assessments and patient feedback. The goal is to find the optimal therapeutic dose that effectively alleviates symptoms while minimizing side effects. Regular follow-up appointments allow us to assess progress and make necessary adjustments.

Assessment Tools

The QB Test and Conners 4 are valuable assessment tools used in evaluating attention and behavioural concerns in children and adolescents.

  • The QB Test is a computer-based assessment that measures attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. It combines objective measurements of a child's activity and attention with parent and teacher reports, providing a comprehensive view of a child's behaviour in various settings. This tool is particularly useful in identifying potential symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and can assist in monitoring treatment efficacy.

    We offer it as part of ADHD assessment or as a standalone test. Interpretation of QB Test result and report is provided afterwards.

  • Conners 4, on the other hand, is a widely used rating scale that gathers information from parents, teachers, and the child themselves. It assesses a range of behavioural, emotional, and academic issues, including ADHD.

We operate a remote consultation telehealth service that provides accessible and professional support in child psychiatry. Our platform connects families with us from the comfort of their homes. We understand that navigating mental health challenges can be complex, and our goal is to offer timely and tailored advice to meet the unique needs of each child. Through secure video consultations, we facilitate a safe environment where parents and guardians can discuss their concerns openly. To ensure ease of access, our service is designed to be user-friendly, with flexible scheduling options that accommodate busy lives. We believe that early intervention is crucial in child psychiatry, and our telehealth approach allows for prompt support, helping to foster resilience and positive outcomes for children and their families.

Insurance Claim Process

Patients are advised to confirm directly with their insurance provider regarding coverage for consultation fees. Child Psychiatry Consultancy accepts payment solely from patients, providing an invoice afterward for submission to the appropriate insurance company.
